If you’re a cruiser—or planning to be—Subscribe to follow my journey and grab my free AI navigation prompts to keep your passage planning sharp, no matter where in the world you're sailing. Fair winds from the tropics! Copy from here: Role: Master Navigator Task: Generate a theoretical Rhumb Line navigation backup plan based on the provided GPX data. 1. Universal Waypoint Processing: Identify all entries in the provided GPX file. Assign a sequential Waypoint Number (WP 1, WP 2, etc.) to every point found. Data Integrity: Process every point in the sequence provided. Do not omit, truncate, or summarise any portion of the route. Every waypoint must have its own row. 2. Midpoint Logic: Calculate the distance between every sequential pair (WP n to WP n+1). If the distance between two points exceeds 100nm, insert a new row for the exact midpoint coordinates. Label this row 'WP [Number] MID'. Calculate the True Bearing and WMM 2025 Declination for these midpoints. 3. Navigational Calculations: Coordinates: Convert decimal degrees to Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (DMS). Dist: Nautical Miles (nm) to the next point. True Brg: Precise Rhumb Line bearing to the next point. Decl (2025): Use the latest World Magnetic Model for the specific coordinate. Mag C: True Bearing corrected for Declination (Variation). Dev (Variable): Apply deviation based on a simulated deviation card: For headings 000°–090°: Apply +2° For headings 091°–180°: Apply +1° For headings 181°–270°: Apply -1° For headings 271°–359°: Apply -2° Comp C: Magnetic Course corrected for Deviation. 4. Hardtop built on a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, all done at a mooring where the cockpit is the only workshop. Fighting storms after storms trying to have some progress, and even watching a ship capzising and sinking. This is not a how-to guide for building a HARD DODGER or HARDTOP. It is a journey showing how I do it in my way. Without claiming this is the way to do it. Thank you so much for tagging along and for the patrons' support in making this video possible. This video documents the progress of building a large hardtop for a Bavaria 55 cruiser, with the creator doing all the work solo from his cockpit, which serves as his workshop (0:18). The project faces challenges due to limited tools, space, and unpredictable weather (0:27). This is not a how-to guide for building a HARD DODGER or HARDTOP. Building the perfect hardtop for my Bavaria 55 here in Bali. The weather has been a bigger challenge than expected, and the last weeks have been extreme with serious flooding and dthe eath toll is still rising. Making it ridiculous for me to complain on being delayed by bad weather, knowing how much pain many are experiencing on this island at the moment. Sailing in a subtropical climate requires good protection, not only shade from the sun but also from extreme UV. Canvas doesn't last long in a sub-tropical climate, and I was tired of leaks and repairs. So now I am making a permanent solution. I'm sharing my production methods, setbacks, and progress, and basically all you want to know about my Hardtop project for my Bavaria 55 Cruiser. Sailing back to Bali, and sharing why this strait can be so challenging. No wind and strong currents force you to plan your crossing and time it well. This is not the place for sailors without engines, even if you time it well. After coming back to Bali, I could pick up my Yamaha 15HP Enduro outboard after it had been repaired. Such a relief to have a working outboard again, and I love the fact that they could repair it rather than buy a new one. When my Australian friend Sam invited me for a short holiday, I was not dificult to ask, and jumped on board his beautiful Lagoon 440. Knowing how much money people spend on holiday here to have this kind of adventure, and even being only the two of us, makes you feel privileged. Sailing in Indonesia and especially from Lombook to Bali can be pretty challenging for several reasons. Outside the monsoon season, there is barely any wind, but strong ocean currents. During the monsoon season, you can experience extreme winds and lots of rain. And many sailors visiting these waters find themselves in big trouble. For us, this time it's basically motor sailing as there are really not many other options. Thank you so much for tagging along and for the patrons' support in making this video possible. Yamaha Outboards are supposed to be the best you can have going on adventures around the world. Especially the 2-Stroke versions, but is this the truth anymore? Over the last 7 years, I have had 3 Outboards, and 3 Tenders, and in this video, I am sharing the situation of my Yamaha Enduro 15HP thats only 4 years old. Thankfully, I am in a place where they have a very professional Yamaha dealer and workshop. I can not imagine what kind of challenge this would have been in the middle of the Pacific. I am also sharing my experience in good and bad with my tenders, my mistakes, and hopefully this can be valuable information for other sailors planning on going on adventures like mine. Sailing solo, making music, recording videos, editing and creating content all by self. on top of this trying to keep up with maintenance, or like now even taking on a big project. I can assure you it's not exactly a lazy lifestyle. But I am living my dream, and I enjoy sharing it unfiltered and without any scripts with all of you. No drama, no exaggerated BS! Only what is really going on, either while sailing, or true stories from real people. No fluff, no clickbait. So to experience a small channel like mine still gains new subscribers every single day is something I really appreciate and are most thankful to experience. So a big thank you from me 🙏🏻

Yamaha Enduro 2-sroke 15HP used to be the most reliable outboard you could buy for money. But mine has not really lived up to its reputation since I was a child. It looks identical to what I had back in the days as young, and man did that outboard live a hard life. it was undestructable, but the new ones seem to have serious drop in quality. Or is it just me thats been unlucky? Whats your experience with Yamaha?

Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it. Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me. Even though this is season 8 on YouTube, I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 7 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. I also have more than 10 years of experience as a captain in search and rescue at sea in Norway.

Sailing in a subtropical climate requires good protection, not only shade from the sun but also from extreme UV. Canvas doesn't last long in sub sub-tropical climate, and I was tired of leaks and repairs. So now I am making a permanent solution. I'm sharing my production methods, setbacks, and progress, and basically all you want to know about my Hardtop project for my Bavaria 55 Cruiser. This is not a how-to guide for building a HARD DODGER or HARDTOP. It is a journey showing how I do it in my way. Without claiming this is the way to do it. In this episode, I even share what I would have done differently if I started all over again. Thank you so much for tagging along and for the patrons' support in making this video possible.
