Friction rings… How to use them! Need more deck/ running rigging organisation but on a small budget? Or have you heard about friction rings but have no clue how to use or what they are? Or maybe they’ve taken your fancy in the chandlery due to their slick, sexy style or even their appealing price tag compared to blocks!

Hellooo! Oh how I miss going to a taproom!
This episode of beers on a boat, from when we were in Ventura in December, brought back so many memories! Here John and I are taking advantage of a little downtime to test the local goods. Spectro Hazy IPA from Topa Topa Brewing Company was a delightful fluffy brew that got us talking a lot about different beers, as well as beer pairings with food. Thank you for having us on you boat John, you're an impeccable host and also very natural on camera, made my job easy! Can't wait for more beers all together this summer at the islands!
Would love to have more guests on too, it makes for a really fun review.
If you're in SoCal I can't recommend TopaTopa enough.
Hope y'all enjoy this one, let me know what you think.

We finally got our StarLink delivered as some of the last-minute shipments before we set sail into the pacific. Our dinghy was almost destroyed after using the worst dinghy dock ever and experienced some challenges with the huge difference in tidal waters on the Pacific side. After moving the navigation screen from the nav station up into the cockpit it left a big hole in the wall down below. So we decided to make the workstation for video editing a bit more streamlined and with some plywood managed to organize things a bit better, not to forget a safe and permanent install of the iMac onboard. We have been working hard the days after our canal transit to be ready for our upcoming pacific crossing. Not everything found its way to the video as recording everything slows us down. But we have changed the water pressure pump and serviced our watermaker and even the generator only to mention a few things. Our goal is to make everything ready for our long passage and then use some days to just relax and rest before we start the longest sail ever.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever we have time for it. I used to sail singlehanded and occasionally have sailing friends onboard. But now the permanent crew aboard BE FREE is including Gee from Holland. We are now exploring the pacific ocean.
Even though this is season 5 on youtube I did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and have also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.
PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS!
I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things that might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.
Join us on Lady K Sailing. Like and Subscribe. We're 28 days from leaving the Great Lakes forever headed for the Caribbean on our Hughes 35 sailboat following our mantra: Go Small, Go Simple, Go Now. Please comment, we're happy to discuss our trip and any decisions we've made to make it possible.

While our Leopard 45 catamaran is on the hardstand undergoing warranty repairs the deck flex above our aft cabins has been addressed! JS Marine, the contractors sent by Travelopia / Leopard Catamarans to complete the extensive warranty repairs took care of the starboard side with Tynan assisting, while the port side was taken care of by our crew over the course of 3 days. Jokes were cracked, Telicia learned to fiberglass and we moved one step closer to be able to get relaunch and finally reach our end goal - sailing and exploring some of the most remote areas of our planet.

$130k GO ANYWHERE 46ft steel exploration yacht For Sale 100% ready to sail | Amazing value Full tour
The boat has been sold!
Today we got a special episode, I came across this amazingly well kept 46 foot exploration yacht. It is currently for sale in the Netherlands for the incredible sail away price of 130.000 USD. I don’t think you are going to find a boat with this kind of pedigree and level of maintenance anywhere else. Tooluka was built in 1975 in Australia out of Korten steel, Designed by the Halvorsen Brothers its an enlarged long keel Freya. The boat is completely setup to voyage to the most remote places our oceans have to offer. Used extensively for adventurous high latitude charters by Eef Willems, she has seen almost every corner of this world. Voyages to Antartica, Chile, Falkland island, Greenland, the NW Passage, Iceland, Norway, Svalbard, Cape Horn. You name it and this yacht has been there. With 1400 liters of diesel and 1080 liters of water you can be off grid for months at a time. Let’s have a look at this incredibly well kept proven exploration yacht that’s waiting to go on its next adventures with a new owner!

Episode #219 : Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures
Hello Friends,
On this episode I haul up anchor at Makua Anchorage and attempt to round Kaena Point and make my way up the North Shore before the winter sets in. With a strong current running and and the trade winds blowing steady I found the passage impossible and tucked tail and ran back into he lee of Oahu.
I pointed Triteia's bow for Electric Beach at Kahe Point dropping the anchor in 20ft of water and taking in the sights of this unusual anchorage. Electric Beach is known for its snorkeling with the large cold war era power plant on the beach pumping its hot water discharge offshore, which attracts fish and other sea life.
Shortly after diving in I was met by a 6 ft sandbar shark, this was my first (known) swimming with a shark and it was both exhilarating and nerve wracking. Once at the cooling pipes I found out the sharks species from a free diver and swam with two other sand bar sharks and a wide variety of fish.
Once back at Triteia I heard the calls of dolphins and had a treat of a lifetime when a pod of Spinner Dolphins swam below and and past me as I watched them play underwater.

A tour around "InBalance", a Balance 482 sailing catamaran, off Port Ginesta in Spain. Thanks to Joe and the crew for showing around before they sailed her over the Atlantic. There wasn't much wind on the day!
.
Please give us a thumbs up and subscribe to https://www.youtube.com/@katam....aranscom/?sub_confir if you enjoy the video!
.
Head to https://www.katamarans.com/balance-482/ for the full feature and specs.
.
Designed by Phillip Berman from Balance Catamarans, and naval architect Anton du Toit, the Balance 482 catamaran is a blue water performance cruiser, the smaller yacht in the Balance range next to the 526.
.
She sports reverse bows, foam core hulls, decks and furniture and is carbon reinforced in higher stress areas, for rigidity and sailing performance. There is an option for dagger-boards or high performance fixed keels.
She has a powerful 133 m2/1,432 square foot sail-plan, to get going early sailing in light winds and is built to handle stronger conditions well once you have shortened sail.
The 486 comes with a flexible Versa-Helm (swing helm) and is designed for short-handed and even single-handed sailing if needed. Her self-tacking jib makes beating to windward easy and all lines are led back to the upper helm station. Dual furling headsails, electric winches, and a bridle mainsheet system make this a comfortable boat to sail in all conditions.
We ventured out of Sunshine Key RV Resort and took a 50 minute drive to the southern most point of the Continental US, Key West. Key West is such a neat city that definitely has soul...a vibe worth experiencing. After doing some tourist-type things, we made our way to a marina where you can feed HUGE Tarpon. Brandon probably shouldn't have stuck his GoPro Hero 9 in the water...
Do it (whatever IT is for you)...fear is nothing compared to regret!
