Sparkman and Stevens designed 92' Vitters Sailing yacht "Carmella" is without a doubt the most beautiful sailing yacht I have filmed to date. Not just her classic lines, but also her magnificent interior...she is the whole package!

Episode 398 : Season 13 : Sailing Indonesia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we head out to catch a minibus to the next town to check out the market and to see more of the island. While we were out we got a text message no captain ever wants to receive "Triteia is dragging" We were a few miles away when the squall hit and luckily our American friends Ricky and Hannah had just dropped anchor near us after they arrived from Australia. Ricky went over and paid out more scope on Triteia and got her safe. We are so lucky they were there!!!!

The next day we made our way back to town to start the challenging process of getting water in a developing country. Gone were the days of nice fuel docks and public docks with drinking water from a tap. If you cant afford a water maker this is reality of sailing in wild places.

Bigger is better what a cliche right? Or is it?
In this video, I'm telling you briefly why I don't want a wind vane and some other things most long-distance sailors do differently from me. I dare to share with you my point of view and also my journey in a genuine and honest way. The answers might surprise you, but then again this was the biggest advantage old Vikings had :-)

Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy this video!

You can also follow sailing with Thomas on other platforms for almost daily updated pics and videos:

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm trying to sail around the world in my Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever I have time for it. Most of the time I sail singlehanded but occasionally I do have sailing friends onboard. Still in the Caribbean due to Covid and was supposed to be in Asia by now.

Even though this is season 3 on youtube I have already sailed 4 seasons full time but did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and been sailing ever since.

PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS!
I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.

Season 5 Episode 96 - Pushing out into the Pacific Ocean and finding safe harbor in La Push

On this weeks episode we depart Neah Bay and beat into the Pacific Ocean at night. Just after sunrise our electrical system begin to fail. With the voltmeter spiking and the relays screaming we come about and point for the La Push, Washington and are escorted over the bar by the U.S. Coast Guard Station Quillayute River ( https://www.facebook.com/uscoa....stguardstationquilla )

We would like to thank the Coast Guard Crews for assisting us!

Once safely tied up and after a much needed nap Camille and myself head out to explore the incredible beaches of La Push with its massive trees washed ashore and endless driftwood. We also flew the drone out to get a view of this remarkable coastline from the sky.

If this is the first Yacht Delivery Chronicles video you have seen heres a little bit of background of what this Season and miniseries is all about. This new season follows James and Camille on a delivery onboard a 74ft Power Yacht they were hired to crew on under then command of Captain Dave Stovall. The delivery which was planned for 9 days took 16 days due to failing boat systems and rough spring weather on the coast of the Pacific Northwest.

Episode #176 : DOOMED YACHTS and New Life for Old Parts.....

We finally made it out to the high desert to the infamous Boat Junkyard. I will start off by saying I am not sure if this place still exists or not as this was filmed last in 2020 and there was talk that they would have to move.

I have had a number of friends who had visited this place and I was passed a phone number and name. There is no website for this junk yard, no email address, just word of mouth it seems. It is wonderfully dangerous and enter at your own risk. Something I think the world needs more of.

Basically they are hired to haul off doomed or abandoned boats, mostly sailboats, then they break the keels off and sell the ballast to a recycler and take a few parts off and sell them to local shops and possibly online. There are ENDLESS amounts of good parts still sitting on these boats.

I was told there is a $200 minimum to even be allowed to pull parts off of boats. I was very happy with what we ended up paying for the parts we got.

Episode 385 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we explore the small island of Hexham and ride out some wild weather. We had never heard of this island and had only came here because our intended anchorage of Supply Bay turned out to be a bombing range. We really loved our visit to this small island that we would have never stopped at otherwise, sometimes having your plans not go as you thought they would gives you wonderful experiences.

SEASON 6 / The Haul Out : Episode #130 : Flying the Engine and Installing the Tube

Hello Friends!

On this weeks episode we start out by thanking out Patrons for their continuing support! THANK YOU! We also thank our Super Chat contributors from the live stream last Friday!

Camille and myself both had to return to LA to work for a few weeks to pay for all of the budget over runs that had occurred. We were both working as Art Department on an Old Navy photo and video shoot on Universal Studios Movie Lot and in a Studio in Hollywood (see the bloopers for clips from my absurd day job)

While we were away the yard fabricated our new bronze stern tube and I agreed to pay them to install it. When they dry fit the new part with the prop shaft that found that the engine was very much off alignment with the new set up and called me. Long Story short I ended up having them wait until I returned and I flew the engine up and modified the engine mounts and aligned the engine myself.

After all was ready Tom from VHBY came by to create the stern tube "Bed" and it was an incredible learning experience for me! I am very grateful they let me work alongside them as assist and teach me the secrets of bedding with epoxy and release tapes.

Episode 309 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa

Hello Friends,
On this episode I take advantage of a beautiful day between weeks of storms and book a day trip as a tourist on a boat that takes passengers to Bay of Islands famous "Hole in the Rock" at Motukokako (Piercy) Island. After a fun visit to this unique feature we had a lunch stop at Urapukapuka where I hiked to the top of a hill to take on the views and explored one of the secluded beaches.

I paid full price for my ticket and am not promoting this trip, just sharing with you a day in my life on a tourist boat.

Aboard our Leopard 45, sailing vessel Liger, we've experienced a series of warranty issues with our lockers and latches. Some of the issues aren't exclusive to our Leopard catamaran while others are a result of poor workmanship.

Some might say these issues are minor, but if you continue watching our channel you will see that poor workmanship was a systemic issue on our new Leopard 45. Also the question needs to be asked, if the latch was just gel coat, where else might fiberglass be lacking?

We also review what it was like for us to do warranty work with Robertson & Caine in Cape Town, South Africa, and explain some of the delays we've experienced and still are experiencing in trying to get our sailing yacht into the condition we need it to be in to safely explore remote areas of the world by sea.

Today marks 387 days on the hardstand in Trinidad. Our "new" Leopard 45 catamaran continues it's warranty journey that has spread across 3 continents and almost 3 years.

We explain some of the recent developments, briefly show a few of the warranty issues we've been fixing ourselves and let you know some of the other things going on behind the scenes, for example the impact the ongoing warranty process has had on finances and a shout out to people who don't mind being named who have helped us on this journey.

There is now less than 2 months left until the hurricane season, meaning we have all but missed the Caribbean cruising season for the second time. :'(

We include a little advice which may be relevant anyone dealing with handover on any new boat like Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot and Seawind
