Two other guests arrive aboard Aquarius and we take off from Krabi Boat Lagoon. Our initial destination - Phuket Yacht Haven where we will get our engine checked by Volvo Penta. We jump in an open water as it's a hot day without much wind and have some fun! And we can't make it all the way to the marina, therefore we sail till dark and anchor in an island along the way where we have incident with fisherman and his nets...

Join us on a tour of the Vaan R4 at the Cannes Yachting Festival. This is an electric aluminium catamaran build in the Netherlands with some interesting design details.
.
The R4 is the smallest of the Vaan range at 42 foot (12.8 m). Her hulls are 60% made from recycled aluminium and where possible Vaan have used circular materials, for example the cork decks.
.
It´s all part of their "Sail the Planet" philosophy: sustainable, yet luxurious sailing.

Is a sailing knife, just a sailing knife? We’d say no, this knife (made from GHOST PLASTICS) defiantly has benifits that go further than its performance, your wallet or your style. For sailors, fisherman, beach combers or DIY’ers… this could be the knife for you!
Check out how @waterhaul6212 are helping reduce ghost plastics! It’s not just knives they make!!

With Liger on land we’ve all had to get used to living on the hardstand. The Italian summer has been HOT with heat waves and ash from nearby forest fires falling on the yacht so in between the warranty works and upgrades we’re doing to the catamaran, we try to escape to the beach next door. We also had a birthday on board which led to a trip to the nearby city of Trieste and Rose learned to ride on a scooter. Our antifoul ➼ Micron 350

Episode 02 : Marina Del Rey to Ventura - with Sailor Commentary at the end of the episode.
This video documents the recent sailing trip I crewed on onboard the sailing vessel The Intrepid. We motor-sailed from San Diego, California to the San Francisco Bay area. 10 days, 111 hours at sea and 470 nautical miles. The uphill battle against wind and currents, sailing north on the west coast is no pleasure cruise.
The crew were as follows:
Tim Brill (Owner)
Cody Brill (Captain and son of Tim)
Nigel Howat (English Sailor/45+ years sailing experience)
& James Frederick (thats me).
I have a blog where you can read all the journal entries about each leg of the passage: http://allwaysbutstill.tumblr.com
I will also be uploaded each leg of the trip as "episodes" that will feature commentary at the end reading some of the journal entries and talking about what happened or what we saw on that particular part of the trip.

We left out Searay 340 Sundancer in the Bahamas for nearly 2 months while we travelled to the BVI and other places. So we returned to the boat to get it ready to cruise the bahamas. Of course its never that easy and I had to spend a few days getting the boat ready to sail.

We are for a treat now - Isabelle’s favorite place in Indonesia - we get to visit Ubud - famous for their handcrafts markets and less noisy lifestyle compared to Kuta beach. We visit local Balinese shows, KACAK & fire show, take a bicycle tour, with a breathtaking rice terraces; The Sacred Monkey Forest and enjoy great & cheap massages and just chill.
Later we have to go to Denpasar to fix my computer and go to Kuta beach where fun continues.
Until it’s time to leave and we got bullied by Bali Ferry…

What do you think of the SP80 Speed Machine and the Swiss team trying to break the World Sailing Speed Record of 65.45knots set by Paul Larsen in 2012. 🚀
▫️
Will they break the record? What do you think? They are now at 50 knots. Comment below!
▫️
The team has a mission: to record an average speed of 80 knots (148km/h) over 500 metres powered only by the wind. They´ll need to reach a top speed of between 85 and 90 knots.
▫️
The plan is to increase the kite size step by step up to a huge 55 square metres to smash the record. They'll be sailing in Leucate in the South of France where the Tramontana blows off the Pyrenees using a kite for power and lift and a foil to keep them anchored to the water. Go SP80!

WOW! Captain Q treks to the southern Maine coast for a 1965 41' Hinckley sailboat review. This has been renovated, redesigned, and improved upon. There is not a bolt or piece of wood that needs attention throughout the entire boat. It's ready to splashdown and make others envious of your style and speed. The price of this boat is about 10% of what a new one would cost.... and yet it's in factory-like condition. Check it out!

When Trent ordered our Leopard 45 catamaran we were excited to be buying a yacht with a design that we loved. It was reassuring to hear at point of sale that ongoing construction issues had apparently been resolved. Trent said that he consciously chose to buy a yacht with high hull number thinking that it would reduce issues.
As promised, the outcome of our post Cape Town warranty experience with Robertson and Caine. What's left now is to see how Leopard evolves as a business and responds to cruisers to help them achieve the dream they worked hard and set out for. Robertson and Caine with their upcoming sale also seem to have a fresh opportunity to clean house and train staff to be better equipped to offer a more empathetic response to live aboard issues.

Episode #197 : Hard Dodger Overview Video
Hello Friends,
I have had a lot of people ask me if I made a Build Video of our new Hard Dodger. I didn't film me making it but took tons of photos so I have sat down and made this episode to explain the process and show what images I have to help people understand how I went about making our custom hard dodger.
The best "How To" video I have seen for dodgers is on Free Range Sailing's youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5wYICajlek - Their dodger is a different style than mine and I don't believe you can get the curves that I have with this process but they do a great job explaining how they made theirs.
If you enjoy our channel please "Like" the videos and Subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes.
or if you would prefer to make a one time contribution you can send it via PAYPAL to jamesthesailorman@gmail.com
