Mich faszinieren abgelegene Inseln. Nichts darf hier schief gehen. Also fange ich an zu trainieren.
We have our first Scuba Dive in a long time and was a great one! The seychelles and the Indian Ocean are great places to dive. We saw sharks, sea turtles, octopus and countless colorful fish. And then we sailed out Lagoon 52 Catamaran to La Digue which is a famous island where there are no cars. Everyone gets around on bicycles. And then we cool off in an infinity pool right on the beach at a high end resort.

Season 4 | Episode 63 | Sailing home to Los Angeles
On this episode we say farewell to Cat Harbor. Its time to get back to real life so we drop the mooring line and point out to sea. Motorsailing through the rolling swells as we enjoy the beautiful cliffs of Catalina Island. Passing "Ribbon Rock" then the iconic "Eagle Rock" we made our way past the West End and soon we were under sail alone.
The sun came out and we sailed wing and wing on what little breeze we had. Smiling all the while.
We had a lovely quiet sail home with the only excitement being refueling at sea in the dark as I didn't want to risk running out of fuel near Angels Gate Lighthouse.
Just like that another amazing trip is in the books. We visited a new Island and stayed at two new anchorages I had never been to. I always want to visit new places when I sail if at all possible so I was very happy with how I trip turned out.
Lots of firsts for Camille on this trip, Her first time sleeping on a boat, her first long sailing passage, her first anchoring experiences and her first time snorkeling.
Lots more to come... Our next set of adventure videos will be of a trip Camille, Mr. Steady (Her blue heeler) and myself took to Catalina for New Years Eve.
Thanks again to all of our Patrons!!!!

Chaguaramas is the yachting hub of Trinidad & Tobago. It's home to shipyards, marinas, immigration, a customs office (with fantastic staff!) and a range of chandleries. It's a great place to haul out to store your boat for hurricane season or get some DIY projects out of the way. You can see our guides to hauling out in Trinidad on the Travel Sketch website!

For almost 12 months now our home has been a shipyard in Trinidad while our Leopard 45 catamaran undergoes significant warranty repairs. One exciting morning it was time to launch one of these catamarans, with the team at Power Boats in Chaguaramas showing off how they work together to lift, tow and launch these enormous yachts. Despite their best efforts nature intervened, but in the end they ensured a safe and successful launch.

In this episode, we explore more of what Nuku Hiva can offer before we set sail towards our first Pacific Atol. This requires some planning not only arriving in daylight, but to time this with the tidal water that can create som serious challenges at the entrance. There is no tidal tables to look at, so I use my sailing experience to come up with a strategy to find the best timeframe. How I think about this and planning our entrance is some of the thingsI share in this episode. Thank you so much for tagging along, and for the patrons helping to support making this videoes possible.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever we have time for it. I used to sail singlehanded and occasionally have sailing friends onboard. But now the permanent crew aboard BE FREE is including Gee from Holland. We are now exploring the pacific ocean.
Even though this is season 5 on youtube I did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I sailed several seasons in the Medetorian prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and have also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.
PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS!
I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things that might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.
We sailed from Miami across the Gulfstream to Bimini in the Bahamas in our new Neel 43 Trimaran to get a little beach time. Then we motored across the Grand Bahama Bank in very calm conditions, the water was so pretty and blue. It was 80 miles over the Bullocks Harbour in the Berry Islands. We were able to get a little sailing in when the wind picked up.

Episode #187 - Timeless Traditions and Heavy Lifting
Hello Friends,
On this episode we talk about what coin we choose to go under the mast and talk about the history of the practice. Then we recruit our friends Mats and AJ to help us move our mast to the boat. Which was NO SMALL FEAT!

Episode #188 - UP WITH THE STICK
Hello Friends,
The time has FINALLY arrived to step the NEW MAST ! This turned out to be a MUCH bigger feat than lowering our old mast with the same process. The new mast is likely twice heavier and so much more is at stake.
I hope to NEVER have to do this again with our mast. Next time we will use a crane. I would say its a perfectly suitable method of raising and lowering mast that isn't super loaded up with halyards, double spreaders, radar, masthead equipment and all of the weight of the wiring that comes with it.
A very stressful experience for me but it all went off perfectly.

We sailed our Neel 43 trimaran from Georgetown in the exumas up the island chan and found a really cool spot to raft up 3 boats and spent the evening together in the beautiful water. We had a Neel 43, a Neel 47 and a Beneteau Sense 50. The water was calm and the sunset was beautiful!

Season 4 | Episode 80 | Exploring underwater at Button Shell Beach
On this episode we awake after a peaceful night on the hook in 70ft of water and have a nice slow morning in the typical California Marine Layer skies.
Once the sun showed up to work I got our scuba gear together while Camille sunbathed as naked as she could with all the crowds around this busy anchorage.
We surface swam to Long Point before dropping down and enjoying a nice dive with Lobsters, Garibaldi, a Spanish Shawl and a VERY large shark we actually didn't see until we were editing the video! Ya never know what is watching you down there!
Next weeks episode is full of adventure as we haul up and make our way to the next anchorage!

Episode 327 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa
Hello Friends,
On this episode I leave my guest slip at Whangārei Town Basin Marina and make a 40NM passage to Omaha Cove where I only spend one night before continuing on to Bon Accord Anchorage on Kawau Island.
I wanted to cover a lot of miles ahead of an approaching weather system and get into the protection of Kawau Island. The rains arrived as the approached the narrow pass between the island and the mainland. I found a safe spot to anchor and settled in for a few days stay.

Also starte ich. Ich werde an Grenzen gehen und viel improvisieren. Aber das ist Teil vom Segeln.
The engine was making too much noise when going from Forward to Reverse, and Reverse to Forward. So, I thought it was due to the Vetus Coupler... I think we found the problem! Watch and see.
And thanks so much for watching 🙏
