We dropped the anchor at a gorgeous abandoned island in Puerto Rico called Caja De Muertos. Abandoned islands have such a weird eerie vibe to them. But it didn't stop us from exploring and enjoying this incredible island!

With some humor, I'm sharing the irony of having problems with enough power onboard while trying to finish my episode about why I don't believe in electric or so-called hybrid solutions.
All this while waiting not only for better weather but also for the required inspection onboard from the immigration officers in Saumlaki, Indonesia

I'm sharing some secret dreams about how I could add more solar panels on my yacht, and even showing you some design sketches. This would require a hard dodger or a combination with a hardtop on my yacht.
But right now having enough power onboard to only edit and upload videos is a big challenge.
It definitely puts the electric sailboat in perspective from the real world.

Episode 346 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa

Hello Friends,
On this episode I depart Auckland with the intention of sailing to the Coromandel Peninsula. Shortly after leaving Auckland harbour I was excited to see a pod of four Orcas casually swimming by. In a very short time the winds went from nothing to Force 5 and building short period seas. Realizing it was impossible to make it around the Peninsula, I switched to Plan B and then quickly to Plan C, Running form Hooks Bay on Waiheke Island.

Arriving after dark, I kept in as close as I dared, dropped the hook and collapsed.

Episode 325 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa

Hello Friends,
On this episode I head ashore at Matakohe Island (Limestone Island) in Whangārei in search of the ever illusive Kiwi birds. After enjoying the birdsong at sunset and seeing my first Morepork, I head out for reinforcements to pick up my friend Zhané from a near by boat ramp. We head back over to the island and on the first trail we head up see our first KIWI in the wild !!!!!

These little birds are hard to film in the dark but I plan on doing many more night missions and hope to get better footage someday, until then I will be happy with this clip reminding me of the experience!

We hiked around the island in the dark and ended up seeing four Kiwi birds in total! What an amazing time!

Sailboat shopping? Want to get the best bang for your buck on a cruising sailboat in 2025? The Catalina 380 was all the rage in cheap sailboats but, they're hard to find now. The Beneteau uses glued in keel matrix strigners that can lead to keel failure. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37 doesn't have the island bed aft cabin master stateroom thsat the Catalina has but, has more cockpit storage and is easier to find. It uses a sail drive and Volvo and Yanmar engines.

I can't believe I'm actually typing this but we've just ordered our very own yacht! This was such a big, shared dream for us, we never thought it would actually happen.

After years of sailing other peoples boats and dreaming about having our own, we finally took the plunge and ordered a brand-new sailing catamaran! We plan to live aboard and sail across the Mediterranean next year!

I flew out to France to attend the Cannes Yachting Festival to see our boat, an Excess 11 Catamaran for the first time since putting in a deposit down. I also needed to decide the specifications so we can finalise our order with the boatyard. I’ll also take you on a tour of the excess 11. This is all very new to us, we've never spec'd a boat before. There are still a few things we haven't quite decided....

A day sail onboard S/V Anduril with light winds and temperatures in the 70's we were greeted by a few pods of a Pacific White Sided Dolphins.

Anduril is a 1969 Islander Excalibur 26 designed by William Crealock. This was my first time aboard Anduril and I am a huge fan of classic plastic so I was stoked. Its always cool to see the details unique to each boat.

The skipper is my friend Neil Fletcher who recently purchased a beautiful 1966 Allied Seabreeze 35 named Arcturus that he will be sailing throughout the Stockholm archipelago this summer and further a field in the coming years. Episode #200 - Exploring A New Anchorage Hello Friends,

On this episode we haul up at Parson's Landing and have a perfect slow sail to Big Geiger Cove. We check out Doctors Cove on the way down and decided to keep moving.

Once at Big Geiger Cove we anchored in 20ft of water with 5 scope out and I rowed out our full stern ground tackle to the shore. With Triteia set into the low slow swell we settled in. The shoreside faculties belong to the Ocean Cruising Club and two of their members, also anchored in the cove in a beautiful 1988 Gand Banks, came over and welcomed us and said it would be no problem for us to go ashore and hike out.

Everywhere in California the beaches up to the high water mark are PUBLIC BEACHES... always remember that! There are NO PRIVATE BEACHES IN CALIFORNIA. But the land behind the high water mark at this location is a private lease and we thanked them for their hospitality.

On this episode we go to Sweden to prepare my friend Neil Fletcher's 1966 Allied Seabreeze, SV Arcturus for her cruising season in the Stockholm and Åland archipelagos.

The next nine or so videos will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Åland Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip.
