A medley of some of the clips from our delivery from La Rochelle, France to Port Ginesta near Barcelona, Spain.
We experienced some pretty rough conditions on this trip, but the boat handled it well. Great fun.

In our first Episode, we take delivery of While One in the December of 2021. Our goal is to spend about 4 nights on While One between Coral Gables, Hollywood Florida's Loggerhead Marina and No Name Harbor off of Key Biscayne. Lots to learn and figure out. Sherine breaks out her paddle board for the first time. Lots of down time, spending quality time with family.

Thanks for following us on Sailing While One!

Boat:
White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built.

The camera gear:
Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached.
Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera.

Editing:
Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff!
There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access.

Content:
I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining.

Comments and being at sea:
I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.

I finally left Florida after nearly 4 months! There were still some uncertainties regarding the steering and solar, plus navigating around a head-on wind, but I made it! It was an overall great crossing and I am so excited to finally be home.

Shelter bay Marina, Colon, Panama. Preparing the boat for crossing the Panama canal. It's a time for stress and hard work in the build up to getting everything ready for going to the Pacific. Time is running out and with only a few days left I have to raise cash, find crew, arrange food and supplies for 6 people and make good all on board before we can go though the Panama canal.

@boatfools  #sailing #sailboatforsale #sailboat #sailboatrefit

[[SOLD as of 12/04/2024]] Ok, this is An INCREDIBLE Bluewater Sailboat AND this video is her debut listing! And while we don't typically review sailboats in this price range (a first at this level), we were contacted by the owner, Gary, who asked us to showcase her and announce her being for sale. We were honored and even more so when we saw this beautiful Cabo Rico 38. We had never been on one, though we heard they are nice. Guess what? They are WICKED nice and this one is off the charts. Gary bought her 3 years ago and has done a ton of work to her and made lots of upgrades (all of this is listed below). He found her in Marion, MA, sailed her up to Maine, did a ton of work, then sailed her to the Bahamas. Of note, this CR 38 has also sailed around the world. The proof of her seaworthiness is in the pudding, as they say. She has done it all and is now ready for more. Once you go through the list of what has been done, you'll see why. There is nothing left to do but replace the lifelines (as we note in the video) and go sailing - and not necessarily in that order.

Honestly, we loved this boat so much and we really hope we get a chance to go sailing on her.

She is located at Knight Marine, Rockland, ME, and her mast is being stepped in about a week or so (as of the premier of this video). As Canadian Ken mentions in the opener, we have NO financial interest in this boat whatsoever. We don't get paid by the seller for our services, either. This allows us to remain unbiased and to call it as we see it. If you feel like supporting us, you can at www.patreon.com/boatfoolssailing. You can sign up for free or for just a few bucks a month.

Many thanks for watching!

Get busy sailing or get busy tryin'!

We sailed from Placencia Belize in a Loepard 40 ft catamaran to the privately own island of North Saddle Caye where the Paraiba Cove Resort is being built. We were given a private tour by the manager and caretaker of the resort. The island is totally off-grid with 60 kilowatts of solar panels, 8 tesla power walls, 10,000 gallons of rain water cisterns and a reverse osmosis water maker. The resort can sleep 24 guests and has 5 infinity pools amoung 4 villas.

This episode we shake off the lines and continue our journey east towards beautiful La Parguera. Unfortunately for us 5 miles from our departure the wind picked up and our prop shaft decided to fall away from the engine!

We managed to limp our way into the bay of Boquerón, and with a little help from our friends we made it to anchor. After a few hours of work we managed to get the shaft reassembled (correctly this time!). The next morning we continued our journey with a short test run and a day later we made it to La Parguera without incident.

We take off for our very first 3 day about 390 nautical miles journey in south Caribbean. On the journey we fly ballooned sail (for a very first time as well) and we rip it :( Of course that had to happen at night as well... But we made it to Bonaire and also caught nice Mahi mahi! Join us for a sail and Bonaire island tour, where Ken and Rokas went for an 80 km bike ride and of course we did some snorkeling as well. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for watching! Stay tuned as next Friday 12PM EST we release a new video!

Hello Friends,
I have put this video together to talk about how I got into sailing, finding my dream boat, spending 4 years refitting her and pushing off to sail over 11.5k miles across the largest ocean in the world alone.

This video is about a dream, a seemingly impossible dream, that I made come true working pay check to pay check and leaving land life behind.

These are our opinions on how we believe warranty rectification costs should be split between the yacht broker and boat builder in a world where financial cost seems to outprioritise human impact. Some sections apply specifically to the situation surrounding our Leopard 45 Catamaran and experience with Leopard Catamarans, Robertson & Caine and Travelopia. This may also apply to other production boat builders such as Lagoon, Seawind, Bavaria, Beneteau and Fountaine Pajot.

In case you're unsure of the ownership of the companies mentioned, this is some information sourced from their respective websites.

Travelopia Ownership: "Our brands were originally brought together by TUI Group to become Travelopia, which was acquired by Kolhberg Kravis Roberts, a global private equity firm, in 2017, with the vision to create the world’s leading experiential travel company." - Travelopia Website | About

Robertson & Caine Ownership: "Robertson and Caine (Pty) Ltd is owned by Vox Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of PPF, a leading investment firm in Europe with its roots in the Czech Republic." - Robertson & Caine Website | Overview

Complete Video Premieres September 20th at 7PM PST

This is a trailer for my upcoming long format episode that chronicles my first solo ocean crossing from Marina del Rey to Honolulu, Hawaii. During that passage my rudder failed 1000 miles from The Hawaiian Islands and I was forced to steer by drogue for the last 18 days of a 32 day passage.

It's finally time to set sail! After some last-minute preparations and provisioning in Fort Pierce, Florida, I cast off the dock and embark on a 15-hour solo overnight sail across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas. The journey to Walker’s Cay was an absolute dream, with great conditions and an incredible sail.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there—I arrive just in time to crash a Wahoo Fishing Tournament! 🐟🔥 Join me as I explore the island, check out the tournament action, and soak in the incredible Bahamian vibes.

Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE for more epic sailing adventures! ⛵⚓
