Hello Friends,
I have put this video together to talk about how I got into sailing, finding my dream boat, spending 4 years refitting her and pushing off to sail over 11.5k miles across the largest ocean in the world alone.
This video is about a dream, a seemingly impossible dream, that I made come true working pay check to pay check and leaving land life behind.

Season 4 | Episode 80 | Exploring underwater at Button Shell Beach
On this episode we awake after a peaceful night on the hook in 70ft of water and have a nice slow morning in the typical California Marine Layer skies.
Once the sun showed up to work I got our scuba gear together while Camille sunbathed as naked as she could with all the crowds around this busy anchorage.
We surface swam to Long Point before dropping down and enjoying a nice dive with Lobsters, Garibaldi, a Spanish Shawl and a VERY large shark we actually didn't see until we were editing the video! Ya never know what is watching you down there!
Next weeks episode is full of adventure as we haul up and make our way to the next anchorage!
Thanks again to all of our Patrons, We are very grateful for your support!

Ahoy Patrons!
This video is a giant THANK YOU to our Patreon Patrons! With your contributions from last month (and a little of our own money) We were able to replace and upgrade our GoPro to the NEW GoPro Hero 7 Black!
This camera with its hyper smooth (Think like if Berry White and Sade had a child) image stabilization our new footage will be gimbal quality on dives and on hikes!
As I said in the video, last month was the most contributions we have ever had ($205) so we took that and put in $179 of our own money and got this incredible new camera that will make the videos even better!
From here on out the videos will ACTUALLY be made possible by you!
So Thank you very much to all of our Current and (Past) Patrons!

Episode #238 : Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures
Hello Friends!
THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME!!!! We are hauling out to fix Triteia's rudder once and for all! On this episode I untie from Ala Wai Harbor and make my way over to the Keehi Marine Center for my 8am haul out time.
They workers were standing on the dock at 7:30 when I motored up and wasted no time getting. Triteia out and up on jack stands and ready for me to get to work. To say I was nervous would be a gross understatement.
By the end of the day I had Triteia all prepared for welding and got her entire bottom sanded for a fresh coat of antifouling.

On this episode of Sailing Vessel Triteia I dive below to check the propellers position before setting the engine in its final spot and drilling the new holes in the engine bracket. I then continue on hooking up the control cables, exhaust system and fuel lines and finally hooking up the water intake to the broken seacock. I watched the sea flow into my boat as I switched from the old to the new hoses, which is a very unsettling feeling even for just a moment.
This is part 3 of 4 episodes of the engine installation. The next episode will show me installing the control panel and batteries, finishing up the last few things before attempting to start the engine for the first time.
I hope you enjoy this episode and if you do please give it a “thumbs up”!

Coches Prietos Anchorage to Morse Point,
Santa Cruz Island of the Channel Islands of California.
The last week of 2017 I took an amazing solo sailing trip to the Channel Islands. I visit six anchorages on Santa Cruz Island before sailing for Catalina Island and tying up in Isthmus Cove for New Years Eve and meeting up with Meital. We sailed back on New Years Day enjoying sunshine, great wind and thousands of dolphins.
On this episode I spend the morning at Coches Prietos Anchorage before hauling up the anchor and setting my sights on Gull Island and finally Morse Point. I had the company of dolphins and discovered I was very low on oil.
While I was on my trip I started my first podcast and the first episode is up online now. The podcast is titled “A STERN VIEW” and is something of a cruising guide to anchorages and sailing destinations. Each episode is recorded on location and I cover everything I know about the anchorage from my research and experience at the anchorage.
I also kept a journal in my logbook and will be posting them as a blog with still photos. This will act as support to the A STERN VIEW podcast as will each new video episode that features the anchorage covered in the podcast episodes.
The journal and Podcast can be seen and heard here: http://svtriteia.com

Hello Friends,
This is our first gear review video!
The water shoes company Aleader ( http://bit.ly/2Zl7rZq ) contacted us about possibly doing a review of their shoes in exchange for a pair of shoes for each of us. As I explain in the video we were already shopping for water shoes and agreed to check them out and if we didn't like them we would simply send them back.
So far we think they are great but the real test will come on Catalina Island soon as we sail over for a weekend of diving. Check out the video for all of our thoughts on the Aleader Water Shoes.
If you are interested in buying a pair you can get a 15% discount by using the code ( SAILORJAMES15 ) on their website. http://bit.ly/2Zl7rZq
Aleaders Youtube page can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/channe....l/UCsdYimAT-fuhntgpd
Let us know if you have ever used these shoes, we would love to hear your thoughts about them down in the comments!
Love,
James & Camille

Escaping Lake Macquarie After Being Stuck for 5 Weeks! On to Newcastle and Nelson Bay, Port Stephens
Episode 374 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia
Hello Friends,
On this episode we finally make a run for it and escape the lake after more than 5 weeks of being stuck with no engine! To say I was nervous would be a great understatement! My heart was in my throat. But all went perfectly and soon we were back out into the Tasman Sea making way for Newcastle and on to Port Stephens where we had a fun snorkel at Nelson Bay.

Ahoy from the Åland Islands... I am uploading this from the island Kökar in the small harbor of Sandvik. I am getting lots of great footage for new episodes to share with you guys in the coming months... I hope you enjoy this second part of my sailing and diving trip to Catalina Island.
On this episode I continue my birthday weekend with my brother Colby. We do two dives in the day time and one at night and I spend some time exploring Avalon.
On our second dive Colby took me to 100 ft, my first dive at this depth and we saw giant kelp that looked more at home in jurassic times than our modern day.
On our night dive the visibility was not as great as the night before but it didn't stop us from seeing tons of amazing creatures while Jimmy Shannon led the way.
Until next time,

On this episode I awoke at Pelican Bay after a perfect night on the hook and watch dolphins and a humpback whale pass by the anchorage as I prepare to leave.
I made my way over to Little Scorpion and dropped the hook for the night, after which I went snorkeling and exploring the sea caves and rocks surrounding the anchorage.

EPISODE #108 ; A Perfect Day under anchor at Emerald Bay
Hello Friends,
On this weeks episode we arrive at our anchorage of Emerald Bay on Catalina Island. After getting the hook set Camille goes ashore with Mr. Steady while I watch massive schools of fish swim under the boat! The water in the anchorage is so clear you can see the bottom perfectly even in the 30ft depth.
After returning to the boat Camille goes snorkeling and I feed the fish with breadcrumbs so Camille can see the feeding frenzy.
After a nice sunset we enjoy dinner and contemplate a night adventure.

A lovely sunset sail out of Marina Del Rey onboard the sailing vessel Poka'l, a 1979 Catalina 38. She was fast for her size and we stayed between 5 & 7 knots with a 7 knot wind blowing WSW and a nice 77º out on the water.

On this episode I haul up for the last time on Santa Cruz Island and make my way for Two Harbors on Catalina Island, a distance of 64 nm. I was able to sail for the first six hours of the passage and even though much of it was through heavy fog I was so happy to be sailing with only the sound of the sea in my ears.
Finally getting my Raymarine ST2000+ Autotiller working (now known as HAL2000) I had an easy over night motorsail and was greeted to Catalina with a brilliant sunrise.
Closing out 2017 with an unforgettable trip and spending the last day and night on what feels like my home base island, Catalina.
