WE found out why we lost Propulsion & Sail Home | S01E19
The wind & weather is looking good to head home to NWC! But first we need to get out of South River before that wind hits. We opt to hip tie the dinghy to get out of the channel and back onto the Neuse River. Then we get to pop the sails and make our way across to Oriental, NC. While dodging the New Years Regatta. Once underway Matt makes a critical discovery about why we lost propulsion. After we securely anchored in Oriental Matt gets to work fixing the problem. Turns out the transmission output flange and the prop. shaft flange have completely unbolted themselves. We performed some tests and it seems like we have resolved the issue?.for now anyway. Thankfully the predicted wind does show up the next day and we are able to sail home. Unfortunately we do have to beat into the wind and waves most of the 9+ hrs but man it felt good to get home! And Matt had a huge grin for days.
