We dove beneath the surface of Vancouver's False Creek to clean the hull of a cherished sailing classic, the Catalina 30 Wing Keel. Despite a recent haulout and painting, this yacht has begun to show signs of nature's relentless grasp, with an early veil of algae clinging to its hull. The sacrificial anodes, the silent protectors against corrosive elements, had a solid 85% of their life remaining. We understand the intricacies of maintaining a boat and its vital components like the ablative paint. This is designed to sluff away marine growth, helping to keep your boat in its prime condition. When dealing with ablatives we are careful to ensure our cleaning procedures do not contribute to wearing away this essential layer. It's better to leave a bit of algae growth in areas where paint is thin, rather than wear off the paint to the gelcoat. We revel in the challenge that each unique boat presents, adapting our cleaning approach to ensure the longevity and performance of your pride and joy. Filmed on a GoPro Hero 9 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
