I’ve spent the last two days tucked into Osaka, racing to finish the 4th draft of my new book — and somehow, miraculously, I wrapped it early ahead of a November 15th deadline. To celebrate, I wandered to a quiet corner of Dotonbori and found an outdoor café by the canal. As I settled in, a boat drifted past… carrying a live jazz band. New Orleans, floating through Japan. Always be listening on channel 16 Using a VHF marine radio. Your VHF radio is a safety tool. Even if you don’t need to communicate with anyone, you should be listening for important weather updates and other announcements on channel 16. This is especially true if you’re boating in high-traffic areas or locations where weather can change quickly.
