nothing compares to the feeling of coloring another 100nm box 😂 When we go on a long passage I always prepare a “coloring” page for us to keep track of our progress and stats. On this 2.250nm passage from Chile to Panama I created - boxes for 100nm sailed - boxes for 24h at sea - note space for Motor Hours (MH) and Generator Hours (GH) Honestly on certain days this is the only thing that keeps me going 😅 when you are at sea surrounded by the “same” blu for days it is tricky to see progress, these little boxes help remind me that we are actually moving forward 🗺️ Stay Salty, Greta and Michael on Zambezi #sailing #sailinglife #boatlife⚓️ #sailboatlife #liveaboard #sailingadventure #offshoresailing

Test of the hover controller, in particular in yaw direction (multicopter frame, i.e. roll direction in airplane frame). The yaw is stabilized using the flaperons which are in the propeller wash. The flaperon deflections are visible when Chris pokes the kite with the broom. The controller quickly reacts and stabilizes smoothly the yaw angle back to zero. Note that differential propeller directions as used for small multicopter-drones do not offer nearly enough yaw moment for control authority of the kite's inertia or expected wind loads. In addition, such a control scheme greatly reduces the thrust for yaw stabilization. This is why this is not feasible for our system.

Today has been a good day. Pretty chill, but productive. I managed to check most things off the list. I did two sextant observations, made some videos, got my workout in, and kept up with the normal sailing routine. One of those days where nothing dramatic happens, but a lot of small things get done. I did feel a bit lower on energy today. My period is about to come, and I can definitely feel it. A little more tired, a little less drive than usual. But honestly, I’m still happy with how the day went. Even without full energy, I still did what I needed to do. I’ve been eating good food, sailing well, and taking care of the boat. Just doing the job, one day at a time. What’s a bit crazy is that I’m starting to see the end of the trip now. It’s beginning to feel real that this crossing won’t last forever. I’m trying not to focus on that too much though. Because the moment I start thinking too much about arrival, I start counting days… and that pulls me away from what I’m actually doing out here. So for now the plan is simple: just stay here, stay present, and keep doing the next small thing that needs to be done. And today, that worked pretty well. 🌊 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology.
