A friendly little seal pop up to say hello to the crew and guests of Moonshadow Yacht Charters, off the Isle of Mingulay, Scotland. Scotland offers sailing as it should be… there’s space and freedom. And the choice to do a lot – or do next to nothing – in this spectacular setting. It’s uncrowded and unspoilt, and life here moves at a different pace. People come specially to see basking sharks, puffins, seals, dolphins and eagles. They sail. They walk along beaches and coastal paths, explore local history and photograph their surrounds. They eat fresh seafood at stylish cafes and vibrant marinas. They enjoy the friendly traditional pubs. They browse shops in bustling coastal towns and villages. They picnic on beaches that are near-deserted, even in the height of summer. Or just sit and watch the tides, the sunsets and the stars. It’s been a bit quite. I’ve been really sick, as you can hear in this video😅 but here is one of my latest projects, not finished but hey… you gotta start somewhere! Little back story, I’ve had this huge solar panel sitting in my living area for over 2 months now, not connected just in my way. So I decided it’s time to get it installed but mounting on the canvas roof without damaging the canvas seems tricky, so I decided to build a hard top out of plywood and fiberglass and fit it onto the frame. Means I can easily mount the solar panel and other stuff like outdoor light and more fairy lights ✨ Thanks for the help As a complete newbie to the sailing world, I had no idea where to start my liveaboard life and I had so much to learn. But first things first. I bought a sailboat, an old wooden ex fishing boat, build for rough seas, 40 ft long and over 15t heavy. But before the sailing life begins I have to do a lot of work, from re caulking to placing planks and wood rot, repainting and anti fouling as well as turning the whole inside into a beautiful homely living space. Come along and help me figure out how to live on a boat and how to sail.
