We've been out on my 33year old, 30ft Sagitta catamaran a few times since launching a month ago. But yesterday was the first "real" sail. I was joined by Alex and Kristina, who had sailed the boat a couple of times last year. There was more wind than expected, 20+ in Plymouth Sound. We left the mooring at 14.30, reached out to sea until we were 10 miles south of the breakwater (according to the gps) then turned round and were back on mooring at 17.30. 27 miles sailed. No breakages, but a spinnaker wrap on the last gybe as we re-entered the Tamar. So "a good time was had by all", and hopefully bodes well for the Falmouth Triangle race this holiday weekend. Questa mattina ci siamo svegliati con una sorpresa poco piacevole. Cami ed io ci siamo svegliati, ma il collo di Cami no. Anzi lui è terribilmente innervosito dal doversi alzare e così decide di irrigidirsi come un cavo d’acciaio. Dicesi forte torcicollo. Dopo una mattina con collare e riposo, ho riempito i serbatoi dell’acqua, svuotato le taniche nel serbatoio del gasolio e preparato la barca a mollare gli ormeggi. Pranziamo e poi dopo tre call di lavoro partiamo da Estepona, prua su Almerimar. Avremo 120 miglia davanti, arriveremo domani nel pomeriggio. Finora velocità media di 5,4 nodi con vento in faccia sui 10. Mare: OLIO. E chi se lo ricordava? Prima notte con AIS in mediterraneo. Altro lusso rispetto all’andata! Comunque sempre attenzione perché non tutti lo hanno: aiuta, ma non sostituisce l’occhio umano! Ci vediamo domani ragazzi, buona notte! ⛵️
