The Hanse 531 is a very substantial 53ft performance cruiser, designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co. and built by Hanse Yachts in Germany. At 16.15m LOA with a 4.91m beam and approximately 18.7–19 tonnes displacement, it offers a particularly good combination of sailing performance, interior volume and long-distance cruising capability. The model is CE Category A Ocean rated. Still in original private ownership, never chartered, VAT paid. A superb example of the Judel/Vrolijk-designed Hanse 531, combining impressive sailing performance with the comfort and volume expected of a 53ft cruising yacht. Built in 2005/2006, this VAT-paid Mediterranean-based yacht is presented in good condition and benefits from an excellent equipment specification. Here is the port helm station on our boat. The removable helm window allows you to see completely through the boat when removed as well as have access to our chart plotter. In heavy weather or rain we keep the helm window in place but can still see the chart plotter through it and access it easily around the corner through the doorway. Having @bandgsailing electronics onboard have been a game changer for us compared to our minimal electronics on Adrenaline. Being able to see our true and apparent wind data and even set the autopilot to steer to the wind angle rather than a compass heading has made our sailing way more efficient. All our control lines our led to the cockpit as well so there really is not much reason to have to leave the cockpit in rough conditions. The 2018 sailing season on New York's Long Island Sound ended Nov. 24th with the Turkey Day Reach. It was a cold and grey, but a great way to sail away a Thanksgiving food coma. This video shows how well SOULMATES' Uni-Titanium mainsail is holding up after three full seasons of racing. The sail is still smooth, strong and fast. Thank you to Todd Aven for shooting these clips during the last race of a great season, in which Soulmates won the Gitanna Trophy -- awarded by the YRA of LIS for the season championship for the fastest PHRF boats.
