Their poor eyesight does make bright objects a curiosity however they are rarely aggressive unless you threaten them or their territorial space. While looking for a cell phone signal in my tender outside of Squirrel Cove in Desolation Sound, this whale surfaced just off my stern. A nine foot boat feels rather small in comparison. I just sat and watched for quite some time until it was out of sight.
