Leg 5 was the most challenging of the entire race and a leg that also delivered some of the biggest surprises. All of which made the closing leg and the coastal races fitting curtain callers to an amazing six week event that had delivered way more than anyone had expected.

Lapwing is an L34 that sails out of Cape Town and is owned by Angela Collins. on our shake down sail we were surprised by the shackle that secures the boom suddenly bursting open and falling off leaving the boom swinging. Luckily we had only a light breeze. Then to our disappointment the foresail would not go up the tracks on the forestay. That will have to be fixed. The winches are not working well but that could be caused by old stiff lines that are sliding instead of gripping. #sailing #lifeisbutadream
