Jack Roy joined the board of Irish Sailing in 2013 and was President from 2017 to 2020. During this time he led with great talent and dedication, and always with a sense of fun and humour. The extent of his influence and popularity is shown in the tributes received by Irish Sailing from people around the world who worked with him during his presidency. Jack finished his presidency during COVID lockdown when face to face celebrations were restricted, so we marked the occasion by publishing his last speech and a slideshow of his time as Irish Sailing President. Follow in the footsteps of the Samson family, who decided to whisk their two teenagers away for a sailing holiday in the Whitsundays for a bit of digital detoxing. They hired a Venturer 38 power cat and cruised around the islands, going wherever they wanted to go, which the kids loved. They went snorkelling lots, went kayaking and paddle boarding, did lots of walks around the islands, and even played cards and other games, like they hadn't done as a family in years. Don't take our word for it, hear it straight from their mouths about what a great holiday they had. And do they recommend it to other families? Even the kids gave a resounding 'YES!'
