We crossed the Atlantic Ocean with our #sailing catamaran in December 2022 from Cap Verde, Mindelo to Martinique, France, Caribbean. We were using #starlink all the way and we had internet 95% of the time. This is definitely a game changer for us sailor. Watch our video starting our trip from the Canary island to Cap Verde here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1OVgIzZ6fI ___________________________________________________ About us: We are a family of 3, Lithuanian and French couple currently living in Dubai UAE with our daughter born in 2020, with the dream of circumnavigating the globe with a catamaran sailing boat. In 2018 until we decided to focus on our project sailing TELLUS (Latin word meaning “Earth”). We had the chance to visit and live in many beautiful countries with our previous jobs, that made us realize how fast the world is changing and how fast the life is going and there is no “later” than “now” for the project we have in mind. In early 2019 we took a one-week sailing courses that opened our eyes of new ways of travelling and changed our life style. In June 2020, we decided to sell everything we own, house, car and lot of stuff that we do not need anymore so that we can buy a sailboat and go for an undetermined voyage around the globe. We bought a catamaran Lagoon 450s delivered in France in July 2021. We have been sailing from La Rochelle to Gibraltar, then exploring the Mediteraneean in 2022 Spain, France, Italy, Greece. In November 2022 we arrived in Canaries Island then sailed to Cape Verde. On 19 December 2022 we set sail to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Verde to Martinique in the Caribbean. After 13 days and 4 hours. We have reached Martinique and currently sailing in the Caribbean islands. We have sailed over 10000 NM so far with our catamaran Tellus. #shorts We decided to create this Sailing-Tellus website with the aim to build a community around sailing videos content creator. La giornata inizia con degli spruzzi d’acqua. Lontani e appena accennati. Da bravi animali curiosi quali siamo deviamo la rotta e quella che sembrava una zuffa acquatica tra qualche creatura marina, si rivela essere una placida nuotata di due grosse balene. Non ci avviciniamo per non disturbarle e ammiriamo da lontano il momento in cui si inabissano verso le profondità del mare e salutano il cielo levando l’enorme coda verso l’alto. Dopodiché scompaiono per sempre. Riporto la barca sulla giusta rotta mentre mi appunto mentalmente di ricordarmi sempre di non dare la quotidianità per scontata, di continuare a emozionarmi di fronte a delle scene di vita tanto semplici quanto straordinarie. I turni di notte iniziano a presentarci il conto, mentre gli spostamenti e le operazioni diventano man mano molto più faticose. Aprire una vela è mai stato tanto stancante? L’arrivo è previsto tra circa 24h. Il meteo è instabile, da Santo Domingo ci dicono che il maltempo dilaga e che è previsto del brutto. Per ora noi facciamo slalom tra le piogge e assaporiamo ogni raggio di sole che riesce a sfuggire alla presa delle nuvole. Sebbene non abbia ancora mai piovuto, le cerate sono sempre pronte lì all’ingresso. Sperando rimangano appese anche stanotte e domani. Ci aggiorniamo strada facendo! Camilla
