David Payne of the Australian National Maritime Museum gives us a little inspiration for the Australian Sailing Hall of Fame with a look at Barrenjoey, the 5.5M yacht which was sailed to Olympic glory in 1964. Grandfather Bill Northam and crew Peter “Pod” O’Donnell and James Sergeant, won Australia’s first Olympic sailing Gold medal in Tokyo in this beautiful boat which was designed in the US but built in Australia. Our Rainbow and Takatapui programme helps young people grow in different aspects, including their mental wellbeing, while instilling a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting our marine ecology. Our programs have had a positive impact on many young people, especially those from the Rainbow community who are facing mental health challenges, and we are committed to offering this programme to as many participants as possible.
