After our summer vacation in Sweden last summer, we anchored in several places where we brought up a lot of dirt and seaweed 🌱 Christian quickly came up with a solution: we could install a seawater pump to rinse off the anchor and chain! Simply brilliant! 💧 And another great thing is we can use it to maintain and clean the newly renovated deck! All in all, a huge recommendation from us! 🌟 The pump is from @seaflo.usa and is incredibly quiet! The people of Porto hold a huge celebration for the festival of São João (Saint John) on 23rd June. And by luck we were in Porto on the day after the festival, when the Rabelo Boat Regatta is held on the River Douro in the heart of the City. These shallow, flat bottom boats were originally used to transport the Port wine from the vineyards on the steep slopes of the extensive Douro River to the wineries in Porto, for ageing. These traditional boats were beginning to disappear by the early 1980s, so the Winery Brotherhood initiated the regatta, in which all of the major wineries are represented by their own boat each year.

Irish Sailing have partnered with Water Safety Ireland and the RNLI in a pre-season push to reduce incidents on coasts and waterways. If you’d like to do some more training or brush up on what you already know, Irish Sailing has over 100 training centres around the country offering courses in sailing and windsurfing as well as powerboating and other specialised instruction.
