I’ve been reminiscing lately. How did we get here? How does a life slowly turn into living on boats, following weather instead of calendars, choosing presence over polish? Before the Alaskan Gypsy, there was the White Eagle. Part of the journey. Part of the learning. Not everything makes sense looking forward. But looking back… you start to see the route. The endless small decisions along the path.
We caught up with Team Loustic SuperSonic waiting out the weather at the John Wayne Marina. They told us all about their hull and deck coming apart. The deck is attached with pop rivets and many of them failed along one side for about two meters of the seam—when they realized the boat was acting sluggish, they looked inside to see at certain tacks, waves of water coming in filling the boat with about 100 gallos of water. They have since repaired it quite nicely and they're drying off all their gear, ready to go on. The boat otherwise handled really well.
