After months of island-hopping across the Mediterranean, our Lagoon 440 Kaia has finally brought us to Sardinia – and the pace of life here instantly feels different. We’ve sailed close to 1,000 nautical miles this season, from Spain’s mainland to the Balearics, and our recent crossing to Sardinia was our longest and most magical passage yet. This week, we drop the sails and take time to soak in Sardinia’s wilder side. Under a gentle breeze, we make a short sail down the coast to the peaceful anchorage of Punta de S’Achivoni, where we celebrate Vika’s birthday surrounded by calm seas, turquoise water, and our three salty dogs. From there, we follow the eastern coastline past deserted beaches and rugged mountain backdrops, before stepping ashore in the quaint town of Portoscuso – our final stop together before Vika heads off to Ibiza. Next episode, it’s just Sam at the helm for his very first solo sail, taking Kaia and the dogs toward the southern tip of Sardinia – tackling the challenges of single-handed sailing for the first time.
