Corby 33 has proven to be extremely competitive in IRC, but also in ORC. The narrow hull, deep heavy keel and deep carbon rudder makes it unbeatable upwind. This boat has been converted to asymmetric spinnakers, which is uniquely well suited for the hull, so now it performs extremely well downwind as well. The rudder broke off my Catalina 25 and did not feel like spending over a thousand dollars on a new one. I've had some ponderosa pine laying around in my garage, however I should have used marine grade plywood. I would have been easer and quicker to craft.
