After a few season of coming to grips with our Mumm 36 racing yacht and optimising her sail plan we were finally in a positions to win races. A stripped out racing yacht like a Mumm 36 needs to be sailed on the limit at all times to keep you in races against boats with more forgiving IRC ratings. For the team at Bottom Up Boats it more often than not it came down to the crew work if you wanted to separate yourself from the chasing pack. One of the most magical memories from our time on the Mumm 36 was this peel from the Code Zero to the A-Sail on a short course race in the season ending frosties regatta at Strangford Lough Yacht club. This slick transition with the crew working in complete harmony allowed the team on GTR to maintain top speed during the second to last mark round which help give them the race win by less than 10 seconds. Giorno 30 - TIRRENO Molliamo gli ormeggi dopo una pausa che ci è sembrata infinita. Evviva! Le previsioni danno un metro abbondante di onda, ma il maltempo è passato e noi siamo impazienti di riprendere il viaggio. La gioia della partenza lascia ben presto spazio a una prima esperienza per niente gradita. Il mal di mare è un ospite davvero fastidioso. Esigente e prepotente. Poco importa se hai dei lavori da svolgere o delle scadenze da rispettare. Se lui è presente pretende tutta la scena per sé. E così è stato oggi per circa 4 ore. Soltanto dopo le 19 è stato possibile mettere qualcosa sotto i denti. I piani per i prossimi giorni sono di recuperare tutte le miglia mancate in questo periodo.
