Secret bay in the South of Ibiza! We did not plan to go at anchor at this bay, we ended up here by chance! We sailed along the famous rockisland Es Vedra when it turned out that the westerly wind would not make it comfortable to anchor there. So we kept sailing for 20 minutes further south along the west coastline of Ibiza, when we suddenly saw this hidden bay between the rock walls! It's a shallow bay about 30 meters wide and max 10 meters deep which has a pebble beach. It is enclosed by steep cliffs and about 5 fisherman's huts built against the rock face. There are no facilities. During the day that we were here, 2 small empty fishingboats were anchored here, 2 locals were sunbathing on the beach and 4 kayaks passed by. It was 1 of our favorite bays, so we made a video with our drone!

We learned from the George Town Facebook group that fishermen were going to be at the government dock. I showed up a little late and so I think all that was left was fresh fish. No lobster and no conch. The fisherman had several very large Mutton Snapper. I had never heard of Mutton before and so I was a bit apprehensive about buying. But, I took a chance. A smaller, one-meal fish, was $20. This larger fish was $75. I suspect I could have negotiated but I never really feel good about doing so given the fact that he's hardly making a killing. I think we got about 8 lbs of fillets off of this fish and so $75 it's really pretty cheap, compared to what we purchase fresh (not really fresh) fish back in the States. We had fresh dill from the Salt Pond farmers market. So, I decided to use dill, lime, olive oil, salt, pepper and a shallot to season.
