► Since 1973, the La Rochelle Boat Show, known simply as “Le Grand Pavois” in French, has been THE not-to-be-missed afloat show on France’s Atlantic coast. With 750 boats on display and a record 80,000 visitors, the 2023 event (that ran from September 20 to 25, so a little earlier than usual) clearly benefited from the scheduled absence of the Paris Boat Show at the end of the year. According to the organizers, no more than 10 square feet was left available at the Port des Minimes! Of course, the Multihulls World team was there. Every course is seasoned with world-class elements like truffles, caviar, and the finest cold-pressed olive oil - sometimes one, sometimes all at once. We chose the wine pairing for the meat, of course. There were a lot of ingredients. Almost too many. Technically, it was impressive. The craftsmanship was undeniable. Everything was executed at a very high level. But when I sit at a table like this, I’m always listening for something quieter - a spark, a story, a feeling that stays with you long after the check is paid. Can a high-end performance replace the emotion of a recipe shaped by time and care? It was professional. It was premium.
