The 45′ Downeast Cruiser Doghouse was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by New England Boatworks in 2005. She is capable of long-range cruising, yet is simple enough to be an effective weekender. Some of her many features include a shallow-draft, seakindly hull, planing speeds, extensive sound insulation, redundant equipment, and low maintenance. She was designed as a Downeast-style yacht above the waterline, with a modern chined planing hull, moderately-deep propeller tunnels, and centerline skeg to protect the props. It's a slight different race today with the ORCV fleet offered to consider pledging to support the Good Friday Appeal with their first sked tonight. Volunteer Race Director Ray Shaw runs the fleet through the starting protocols including exclusion zones, shipping to be mindful of, communication channels be observed before doing a final check of crew and confirming they are a starter.
