To make their garden, first they burn, then cut the trees by axe. the wood is then used as a retainer to support the steep slopes from erosion. Due to the constant manual labour required to maintain these wild gardens, garden houses are often constructed using the felled wood to create shelter for cooking, resting/sleeping and of course chewing Betel Nut ? Unlike modern farming methods, there is no use of fertiliser, pesticides, herbicides, irrigation or electricity. Instead, rain, sun, and the native soil are all the plant needs. It all becomes evident when you taste the difference in the produce. This is true organic farming not just a marketing gimmick like is often the case in Western societies. IRC class Two kicked things off with the multihulls starting last 40 minutes later ?? And after rounding the eastern end of Antigua, the fleet cracked sheets to head north to the next mark off Barbuda. Among the talking points ahead of this year's race there was plenty of attention focused on the IRC fleets, especially on the big guns.

This video is part 1 of a 12 part series, I am challenging myself to create one new print per month based on the origin of month names from the ancient roman calendar. To be historically accurate Janus is typically presented as a two headed man, but I put my own artistic twist on this, and I hope you like it as much as I hugely enjoyed making it.
