This is Mayhem, Raja Ampat. Named after the chaotic show that's put on when the pelagics come in to hunt the schooling fish on a strong current. There is a great abundance of marine life on the site, and the stronger the current, the more fish life there will be! Schools of Fusilier, Batfish, Snappers, Sweetlips, and even Bumphead Parrotfish can be seen here. We made a 7sqm screecher for our 14ft plywood Zeta trimaran and tried it today. As you can see from the mirror like surface there wasn't much wind! It was all a lash up, I have no cleats for mainsheet or screecher so had to handhold everything. But it sailed well and tacked easily. You can build your own Zeta trimaran from 7 sheets of ply in 150 hours. The boat weighs 73kgs, 160lbs, ex rig. I was foil boarding off Jupiter Island and had the gopro in my kite lines. Looking back at the footage I found this little clip. The shark must have thought the foil was a ray or something. Any idea what kind of shark it is?
