Join us for a weekend of fantastic racing and unforgettable socials as we celebrate 30 years of RS Sailing. Hosted by Hayling Island Sailing Club on the 17th, 18th and 19th of May, this anniversary regatta will be the RS flagship event of the year and a true celebration of Corinthian racing. The 30th Anniversary celebrates 14 of our legendary racing classes; the RS Aero, RS Feva, RS Tera, RS21, RS Elite, RS Vareo, RS100, RS200, RS300, RS400, RS500, RS600, RS700 and RS800. The event will also include the RS500 UK National Championship as well as Round 2 of the RS21 UK & Ireland Cup. In true RS Sailing style, the socials onshore will be just as fun as the racing on the water. This video shows how to use 'Dutchman's Log', an iOS and Android app to measure your boat speed through the water. Set boat length and desired units in 'Settings'. Two persons are needed: one stands on the bow, and the other aft. The person on the bow throws an object that will float (eg crumpled piece of paper) into the water, ahead and to one side of the bow. As it passes the bow at right angles, they shout 'Now', and the person on the stern starts the digital timer. When the object passes the stern at right angles, the timer is stopped. The App now calculates and displays the boat speed.
