We are Anthony & Cindy. Our boat is Impavidus (Latin for Fearless) In June 2018 we decided to retire early, we sold everything to sail around the world on our modified Bavaria 37. In our First season we made our way from our berth in Port Solent, Portsmouth, England. Down the South West coast of England to Dartmouth and down to the Mediterranean We crossed the North Sea/English Channel to Roscoff in France. Working our way down to Brest and on to La Rochelle, France. We spent the summer sailing around the Bay of Biscay and down through the Spanish rea’s and on to Portugal. From there we spent two weeks on the river Guardiana on the Portuguese/Spanish boarder. We entered the Mediterranean in September of that year and eventually stopped in Almeria Spain for the winter. Since then we have sailed on, through Spain, the Balearics, (where we spent 3 months) before heading back to the mainland of Spain to Barcelona and then on through Southern France and down the West Italian coast and its beautiful islands. Eventually finding a wonderful family run marina where we have wintered in Gaeta, Italy. Our two doggies Oscar George and Lady Rose are sailing with us. Both quite old they have adapted well to life aboard. We have been sailing and boating for 35 + years. Both starting at school in England; But we still learn something new every day! We are hoping to sail down the Italian coast to Sicily and on to Greece or possibly Croatia this year. We have had Impavidus since new in 2015 and we spent a full two years, while still working, adding to the equipment and inventory. Everything we thought we would need….. AIS, Long-range fuel tanks, Extra water tanks, rope cutters, a Brunton Auto prop, Extra solar, extra batteries, a freezer. Then all the ancillaries and equipment we needed. Tools, Spares, Clothing, a Rib and new outboard engine. A life raft and lots more. Our latest video, Sailing Soccer Mum, is a cruiser and family friendly guide to Townsville, Queensland. We have been in Townsville for a couple months and we have found some wonderful (and FREE) places to visit, see, and activities to do with kids - and bonus is that they are all within walking distance from the marina. Breakwater Marina- Walking distance to the supermarkets (Coles and Woolworths). Great Staff, you can be liveaboards in the marina. The facilities include toilets, showers, laundry area, bins and there is a courtest car for hire ($10 for 2 hours) Castletown Shopping Center - A bit further of a distance but it is certainly a fun day out. They have a Play center (free) for kids, supermarkets, BIG W, doctors, optometrists, cafes, shoppes, and lots lots more. We really enjoyed going to the Teddy Beat Tea Time out on during school holidays - a free event for kids! Townsville City Library (Flinders Street) Located on the second floor of the building, and it is free to become a member. They have free wifi, a crafts table for kids, and a kids courner filled with books, toys, dress up, and a tent! We really enjoyed our time at the library. Museum of Tropical Queensland Free entry but they do put on special exhibits and the special short time ones are a small fee. They have a science area that you can easily spend hours in with kids and lots of interactive activities and hunts to do around the museum. On the top level (and the far back) is a giant tropical tree with a slide and activity for the kids. Lots to see and very interactive.
