When people ask me why we help animals and not people, I say to them - we do help people. Animal and human health are intrinsically linked, when animals suffer we all suffer. There are many parasites, viruses and bacterial infections that can be transmitted between pets and the humans that love them. It's amazing sometimes the contrast between how peaceful and protected you are down below on a boat, versus up on deck, and the change happens the split second you put your head outside. I love it and find it challenging at the same time.
