Check out our latest video on the channel of how and why we bought a Contest 48CS sailyacht to sail around the world. We visit the biggest boat show and looked at new boats and later traveled around Europe to look at older boats from Hallberg Rassy, Najad, Amel, and Contest Yachts. We visit the yard where our boat was built and take a look at the incredible craftsmanship of boatbuilding today. The Alpine butterfly knot, also known as lineman's loop, butterfly loop, butterfly knot and lineman's rider, is a knot used to form a fixed loop in the middle of a rope. There are multiple ways to tie the Alpine Butterfly knot, in today's video we will teach you the wrap method where we form the knot by creating three loop around you hand to form the base of the knot. It can be tied without access to either end of the rope, this is a distinct advantage when working with long sheets or halyards. The Alpine butterfly knot is an excellent mid-line rigging knot, it handles multi-directional loading well and has a symmetrical shape that makes it easy to inspect. The Alpine Butter fly knot is great for creating temporary purchase systems which can help secure items with additional holding power. Making it great for tying down dinghies, spars, sails or just about anything you can loop your rope around. The Alpine Butterfly knot will tighten on itself making a secure loop or purchase system, it can be easily undo even after heavy load is applied making it a great temporary solution when a loop is needed. The team at bottom up boats hoped you enjoyed this Know Knots shorts video demonstration where we should you how to tie an Alpine Butterfly Knot. If you have a suggestion for other must know knots you would like a short for drop us a comment at the bottom of the video and we will give it a go. #bottomupboats
