The world’s largest Viking ship, the Norwegian Draken Harald Hårfagre, will be docking in New York City September 17-26. Draken Harald Hårfagre has been on an adventurous voyage, sailing from Haugesund, Norway across the North Atlantic Ocean via the Shetland Islands, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland to Newfoundland and into the St Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes the summer of 2016. She has visited numerous ports and has met thousands of people along her route, spreading the word about Vikings, the craftsmanship behind boatbuilding and the pursuance of ideas. Expedition America 2016 has encountered storms, icebergs, unpredicted weathers and many challenges along the route since the departure from Norway in April 2016. The aim to explore the voyage Vikings did a 1000 years ago and if it was possible to sail an open 115 ft wooden Viking ship across this waters has been proven and the arrival in New York City is the grand finale of this expedition. The Viking ship will arrive New York City September 17 and will be celebrated in a grand welcoming ceremony with speeches, interviews and Nordic entertainment. The ship will sail pass the Statue of Liberty around 11 am and arrive at North Cove Marina for the ceremony at 11.30 am. Welcome! It will be possible to visit the ship and the exhibition about the building of the ship and the history behind the expedition during the stay, Deck tours 11 am to 6 pm Sunday, September 18 - Thursday, September 22 Saturday, September 24 - Sunday, September 26 Tickets to deck tours is available in the exhibition area in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place. $ 10 adults (age 18 and up) $ 5 children (ages 6 to 17) The ship will be docked in North Cove Marina at Brookfield Place 250 Vesey Street (just west of One World Trade Center) Make sure to catch the exhibition displayed in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place.

📚BOOK CLUB di Novembre: “La Solitudine dei Numeri Primi ” di Paolo Giordano (Premio Strega 2008). Link al libro su Amazon (affiliato) https://amzn.to/4fOwmbS Recensione: Ogni capitolo di questo libro è stato per me un'inondazione di tristezza, dalla quale non ho potuto fare a meno di lasciarmi travolgere. Mi è piaciuto? Al di là delle aspettative. Tra gli elementi che più ho apprezzato ci sono: 🪶1)La prosa raffinata ed al tempo stesso scorrevole. Le parole scelte dall'autore non raccontano solo gli eventi, ma si fondono con essi conferendo loro significato, come le cuciture che trasformano la stoffa grezza in un abito. 🗣️2)La voce narrante che, specialmente nelle scene di cui è protagonista Mattia, è molto vicina al personaggio, tanto da farci entrare nel suo modo di essere. La scelta stessa dei particolari raccontati è molto personale e rilevante alla luce del vissuto del personaggio, e nessuna descrizione è lasciata al caso. Ad esempio, a pagina 168 troviamo Mattia che fa scorrere l'unghia sul filo arrotolato del telefono e pensa ad “un'elica di DNA, a cui mancava la gemella”. 🪢3)L'intreccio degli eventi, per cui ogni situazione, dettaglio e personaggio si incastra perfettamente nel disegno della storia. Questo è un aspetto che mi da molta soddisfazione quanto leggo un romanzo, perchè sento che l'autore premia la mia attenzione senza mai approfittarsi di essa per inserire dettagli irrilevanti ⛩️4)La struttura delle scene, che l'autore chiude all'improvviso al punto di svolta. Le conseguenze immediate degli eventi non sono esplicite (ad esempio non vediamo cosa succede subito dopo l'incidente iniziale di Alice o la tragedia di Mattia), ma divengono evidenti a distanza di tempo. Perciò, sta al lettore unire i puntini ed immaginare cosa è successo negli anni che separano i capitoli. Trovo che questa scelta (coraggiosa!) conferisca un grande pregio a questo libro: l'economia. ⏱️5)L'ottimo ritmo della narrazione, che mi ha tenuta incollata al libro.
