This video illustrates the force of the wind while on a close hauled/close reach with one reef in the main and 2/3 of the Genoa out in 17 knots of wind with 23 knot gusts. Our speed over ground last week ranged from a comfortable 6.5 knots to 12.5 knots. As you may know, the Lagoon 450 is well known for its capability to sail in low wind and down wind. We also realized the 450's ability to provide a controlled and comfortable “banging up wind” experience during our 21 day trip around the BVIs.

► Essai complet dans Multicoques Mag N°219 : https://www.multicoques-mag.com/essais/catamaran/bali-catsmart-small-is-beautiful ► Le constructeur devenu numéro 3 (voire 2 ?) mondial complète encore sa gamme… mais cette fois, par le bas, en présentant un nouveau modèle de 38 pieds. Un petit frère pour le Bali Catspace qui se permet quelques innovations inédites, comme l’adoption de deux postes de barre, l’optimisation de la surface de voilure avec une grand-voile à ras du rouf – pas de flybridge, du coup. En revanche, le pontage intégral et la porte Bali basculante sont toujours au rendez-vous. A l’intérieur, c’en est bien fini du tout location ; le constructeur affiche bien des classiques versions quatre et trois cabines, mais surtout une étonnante déclinaison avec deux cabines Propriétaires seulement. Le Bali Catsmart démontre (enfin !) l’intérêt de multicoques compacts, bien moins chers et plus faciles à entretenir que les grands modèles. Le Catsmart rejoint donc le C-Cat 37, l’Excess 11 et l’Aventura 37 (trois modèles attendus au salon). Bali présentera à La Grande-Motte à partir du 12 avril 2023 tous ses modèles voile, excepté le 4.8 – opportunément exposé par Dream Yachts Worldwide. As the wind and waves increased it is a wet ride for the jib trimmer down to leeward on our Mumm 36 racing yacht. As the spray pounds into his face it is all eyes on the leach of the sail, making minor lots of adjustments to allow the skipper to carve through the waves while keeping the speed on. The Mumm 36 loved the breeze and when she was setup correctly with lots of mast bend in the breeze she could power through most conditions without having to put a reef in the main. Continual minor trim adjustments where needed to keep the boat in the groove and make life easy for the skipper need to be in in tune with the changes to sail the boat fast. The team at bottom up boats loved the Mumm and the fun we had while racing her as hard as we could on strangford lough and beyond.
