Since our first visit, Cumberland Island has become the “magical” or “enchanting” place on the ICW. And how lucky are we to be able to visit it by private vessel? We enjoy exploring all parts of the island, from the trails and marsh to the beaches and mansion ruins, but it’s the wildlife and remoteness that keeps us wanting to come back. For example, pyrotechnic flares expire 42 months after date of manufacture and have an expiration date stamped on them. Fire extinguishers now must be replaced at least every 12 years.
