Raymarine has some interesting news for this year, as boats.com senior editor Lenny Rudow discovered at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, when the LightHouse software update was announced along with the CP100. The LightHouse update includes a lot of advancements, including new color palettes, menus, and pinch-to-zoom functionality. Meanwhile, the CP100 takes the same CHIRP-ish technology use in the Raymarine Dragonfly, and combines it with a black-box sounder. I’ve been away from the boat for five weeks over the holiday season, and before heading back to life afloat, I made a small pilgrimage into the Japanese Alps. This journey brought me to Saku, in Nagano—one of Japan’s well-known longevity hotspots—to visit Pin Koro Jizo, a beloved shrine where people come to pray for a long, healthy life.
