The Glen yacht, a stunning vessel designed by the talented Alfred Mylne in the Mid 1900's, is truly a timeless classic that has captured the hearts of many sailing enthusiasts. This remarkable yacht showcases an elegant design and exceptional craftsmanship, and you will find many of these beautiful boats racing each Wednesday Night on the picturesque and serene Strangford Lough. The first race of the eagerly anticipated 2025 season got underway in perfect conditions, with the sun shining brightly and a light to moderate breeze providing the ideal setting for a thrilling competition. As the day transitioned into night, the sunset was absolutely spectacular, painting the sky with vibrant hues as this Glen yacht punched through the glowing setting sun, making its way up to the final top mark in the exhilarating first race of the season. The team at Bottom Up Boats is incredibly excited to be back on the water for the 2025 racing season and is looking forward to capturing and bringing you more great footage of the thrilling events and beautiful moments throughout the season. Built locally in Sidney, this Yar 26 is simply “wow” when you step onboard this piece of nautical history that was described as the “boat of tomorrow” by their designer. Every bit of this boat has received meticulous attention to detail by extremely knowledgeable owners that have lovingly re-finished “Gryphon” during their years of ownership. This mighty little ship is built to cruise comfortably off-the grid throughout the PNW, supported by tanks that carry 50USG of fuel and 75 USG of water with the added bonus of a solar panel to keep the 4 x House batteries fully charged. Finished in custom oak, this vessel was repowered with a Beta diesel engine that only has 525 hours and provides a comfortable cruising speed of 6-7 knots with exceptional fuel efficiency. Electric windlass, auto-helm, large fridge, hot water, dinghy and a 2.5hp Suzuki outboard are all part of the package.
