The 27th Annual Dana West Yacht Club Charity Regatta, off the coast of Dana Point in Southern California had 21 boats competing. Sometimes boats try to occupy the same space on the water and that's when collisions occur. During this race, two Catalina 385's, Marblehead and Tomol, tried to do just that and crashed into each other. Who is at fault and how could this collision have been avoided? Race One of the SLYC two day event Strangford Lough got under way under cloudy skies with a moderate breeze GTR was ducking and weaving to lock up the pin end of the line on port tack. With two boats choosing to duck behind them to avoid getting pushed the wrong side of the pin there was a third that could caught out and had to tack around to start correctly. With the windward position secured they could put the bow down and accelerate over the boats to leward.. On Saturday, 5 August. Perini Navi launched the S/Y Seven. The 60m aluminium ketch is the 62nd Perini Navi yacht to be built and the third in the successful 60m series which also includes S/Y Seahawk and S/Y Perseus^3.
