Dags att vara 100 % ärlig. Här är exakt varför vi seglade över Atlanten med bara genuan. Vår prio nummer ett när vi seglar är säkerhet. Att bara behöva hantera ett segel när något oväntat händer gör allt enklare och tryggare. Vi slipper vända båten i 5 meter höga vågor för att ta ner storen eller gå upp mot vinden i sjö för att hissa den igen. På nätterna seglar vi konservativt, så att den som vilar faktiskt får sova och den som är vaken kan hantera allt själv från sittbrunnen. Vi har haft mer än tillräckligt med vind, vi har faktiskt seglat cirka 90 % av tiden med revad genua. Ju mer vind, desto mindre segel vill vi ha uppe. Att hissa storseglet blev helt enkelt aldrig aktuellt för oss. Och när det rullade och vi hade lite mindre vind så valde vi också att ha revad genua för att plana till genuan så att den inte slår och skapar förslitningsskador.
