Located near Kulusuk in East Greenland, Knud Rasmussen Glacier can be found at the end of Sermiligaaq Fjord. Sermilik Fjord is a big fjord west of the village Tasiilaq. The name Sermilik translates to ‘place with glacier’. The fjord is filled with icebergs because it receives water from multiple glaciers. While the Global Surveyor sailed in, we observed many whales and seals in their natural habitat, but no polar bears on the shore. Global Surveyor is set to sail to the Arctic for the summer. Chinese sailor Jingkun Xu's wore his heart on his sleeve as he raced around the world. So did many of the other sailors and while everyone's story was fascinating, the fact that Jingkun has just one arm speaks no English and ran his entire campaign with barely any shore crew made his story all the more fascinating. But his journey was more than that - when he talked to the camera he did so to mark a moment in his journey, for good or for bad and you just couldn't help but get drawn into his world.
