All American Marine has completed construction, launched, and delivered the Spirit of Matushka, a 150 passenger hydrofoil-assisted catamaran for Major Marine Tours out of Seward Alaska. This 87’ (LOA) x 32” Teknicraft Aluminum catamaran, will be certified USCG Subchapter T. The quad Hamilton waterjet vessel will add to Major Marine Tours’ fleet of glacier and wildlife cruise vessels in and around Kenai Fjords National Park. It was tough to control the the remote control yachts in blustery conditions off the pontoon at SLYC during the Saturday morning racing. After a nice rounding and gybe at the top mark a big puff sent this yacht down the mine and into a massive nosedive and round up. With the pressure going from 5 to 15 in seconds it was hard to get the nose away after the wind made it hard to play. The team at bottom up boats love racing of all shapes and sizes, I loved taking this footage and spending a few minutes on the dock talking to some life long sailors who now enjoy racing from the peer long past the days that their sea legs have deserted them.
