Sailing around the island of the South Pacific is beautiful but the seas can be challenging. The seas state is BIG, the winds have turned up and we are just bobbing around out here in our catamaran hoping for it to end. Join us for the adventures of WE, every Wednesday a new episode of our sailing travels around the world! @WEsail
SAILING ILLUSTRATED #799 (Fri 10 Jan 2025) — “It’s been an interesting first two days for us,” commented Gavin Brady (USA) on top with Nick Egnot-Johnson (NZL) and Ian Williams (GBR) at the 2025 Macao Match Cup. “Despite us not managing to do a great deal of preparation for the event, as well as other teams, we are sailing well. There are a lot of wind shifts here, but also a lot of passing lanes to keep the racing close – a great event so far.” Reminder that our SI Person of the Year will be announced on our 800th show on 14 January 2025.... SAILING ILLUSTRATED is hosted by Tom Ehman (USA), with Julia Wedekind (USA), Jon Emmett (GBR), Alistair Murray (AUS) and the FOSI. As always our live video podcast airs on Facebook (fb.com/sailingillustratedblog) and the Sailing Illustrated TV YouTube channel every Tuesday and Friday at 1300 Pacific / 2100 UTC, or watch a replay on-demand later. Checking the fuel injection timeing as stated in the manual. De-compress the engine and crank it manual. The timeing mark is behind the startengine. The sound in the video is not the right one, it should be shorter to be the injection sound. Mobile camera can be helpful, it register the sound and you can see the mark on the flywheel on the video. In later manuals an other method is adviced. Dis-connect the pressure pipe from the injector. Arrange the pipe so the end comes horisontal. Turn the engine slowly and look for when the diesel suface start to rise. Stop the turning and look for the timing mark on the flywheel. Something is wrong with my injection pump, so I got non of the methods to work out perfect. With the new injection pump the engine have great difficulty to start. With the old the engine starts instantly, but it leaks diesel to the engine oil. But I have clear indications that the injection timing is right.
