This animation is made by KTF Cranes who will be craning out the 32m aluminium catamaran at our KM yard. The catamaran, previously called Ice Lady Patagonia II, will be at our yard for the next year or so while we perform a major refit and maintenance job on her. The two halves of the 16x30 wind tunnel are joined. As in boat building, the composite team built a mold from the precision cut frames, and laid in the composite layers. In this particular case, the parts were made in quadrants from male molds which create the inner surface of the wind tunnels. To finish the inner surface, the inside of the tunnels includes a layer or gelcoat. When assembled the wind tunnel will be 30’ long with a 16’ diameter. This tunnel is destined for a major academic research facility on the East coast of the United States. Among its many aerodynamics functions, the tunnel will be used to support aerospace research projects. Lyman Morse Technologies, LLC regularly executes non-marine projects.
