The starboard start looked like it would be a golden until it got light under the dock making it difficult to roll into a tack, leaving the door wide open for a late starter on port to race out to the right before rolling into a tack perfectly on the lay line. The speed on the way to the top mark was impressive and gave them a big lead at the first mark. The team at bottom up boats love sailboat racing of all shapes and sizes, I loved taking this footage and spending a few minutes on the dock talking to some life long sailors who now enjoy racing from the peer long past the days that their sea legs have deserted them.

The second Sun Fast Cup took place over the weekend of July 14th through the 17th, 2022, in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight in England. For the last 40 years, there has been a curious hole in the ASA curriculum, with ASA 101 leading directly into ASA 103. This spring, our schools will start teaching our exciting new course, ASA 102: Keelboat 2. This course is for any sailor interested in building their core sailing skills. This includes becoming more proficient at sail trim and close-quarter maneuvering. It also includes improving your crew skills and working together as a team to make your vessel move more efficiently through the water.
