The Oyster 53 just might be the best cruising platform in its size. With some 55 hulls sold, the model is well regarded as a benchmark in Blue Water Sailing circles. Features like robust hand-built construction, a bright and airy saloon, high freeboard, a roomy interior, protected cockpit, ease of handling and comfort at sea are all characteristics of the Oyster 53 design. LUMA has the preferred 4 cabin layout and warm teak interior with teak and holly soles. She was built in the Windboats yard in the UK.

There were plenty of boats on the star line for the SLYC Two day event, Dark and Scary got slightly to windward of GTR shortly after the start but was slowly burnt off by the superior hight of the J109 GTR. The team at bottom up boats hope you are enjoying some of the best bits from the the 2024 sailing season.

I love this feature for two reasons; first, it is a great example of how responsive Vision is to customer feedback that can make the boat better, and second, because I had at least a little input in its creation! In a nutshell, they help prevent the running rigging from getting snagged on the rigid solar panel corners. Flexible panels wouldn't have this problem to begin with, but they are nowhere near as efficient, they get hot and they don't last as long. We were very happy to be getting rigid solar panels, but were less than thrilled about having to be super vigilant to prevent a damaged sheet or panel.
