Schaffhausen, 15 July 2020 – IWC Schaffhausen and its partner Solaris Yachts have jointly worked on a very special customised sailing yacht. A 55-foot Solaris 55 from the Italian boatbuilder was designed to perfectly reflect the spirit and visual codes of the new Portugieser watch collection. The yacht’s name “DOUBLE MOON” refers to the iconic moon-phase indication of IWC’s legendary perpetual calendar complication.

Our Haas GR-712 CNC machine and her crew are hard at work milling a laminated sapele wood transom. The transom will be installed on the construction strong back and glued to the keelson before the hull planking is laminated in place. It is one of many structural components cut by the CNC for the new LM 65 ft cold molded sailboat project.

Levante designed, built and installed a custom multifunctional stainless steel structure tailored specifically to the boat. The project combined solar generation, future wind power integration, dinghy handling and rope management into a single solution designed around the yacht's geometry and daily use.
