Final update on Cyclone Vaianu tonight in Whangarei, New Zealand. We have thankfully been pretty well sheltered here in the boatyard and haven’t seen more than 40-45 knots tonight as the winds reached their peak. But we’re hearing reports from friends nearby that the winds are almost double that nearer Auckland and Great Barrier. We hope everyone stays safe overnight and we look forward to some respite tomorrow before the wind swings and picks up again for the second half of this weather event. Good luck everyone! Giorno 193 - verso santo Domingo La mattina passa veloce tra ponti che si aprono, dogane che si svolgono e ormeggi che si mollano. Julia è pronta e noi con lei. Prua su santo Domingo. Ci rimettiamo in oceano dopo giorni di meteo instabile. Sfruttiamo una finestra che sembra una buona occasione per raggiungere la nostra destinazione. Siccome siamo in due, cerchiamo di portarci avanti preparando in anticipo ciò che mangeremo nei prossimi giorni. Il pilota ci ricorda che vuole le sue attenzioni. Per fortuna questa volta è una vite della morsettiera dei fili ad essere lenta: una stretta di cacciavite ed è tutto a posto. Bene così! La notte arriva veloce. Una notte che sa un po’ di giorno vista l’intensità della mezza luna su di noi. Ora riprendiamo i turni: due ore a testa! Che la traversata abbia inizio! Andrea
