Originally from Sturgeon Bay, you can now find Utopia in Manitowoc, Wisconsin! Dockside visitors can explore this beautifully crafted vessel, which was designed by Fred J. Peterson of Peterson Builders, Inc. in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and built in 1946. Utopia’s unique features include a steel double bottom for strength, wooden hull sides for warmth, and twin Detroit diesel engines. Visitors can marvel at her elegant lines, learn about her global circumnavigation, and appreciate the craftsmanship that has kept her sailing for decades. When we sailed the Costa Brava in the northeast part of Spain, we enjoyed especially the bay of Begur, the village of Fornells and an area called Aiguablava. It has beautiful cliffs and little beaches. On the internet it said it’s a favorite among locals in Spain and it was weekend, so we saw a lot of families walking around or sitting on the beach. The background sounds that you hear on the boat during the day, of children playing and running around on the beach, adults talking and laughing and the smells of BBQ coming your way, gives a real holiday feeling!
